"The window that Jo designed and produced for us lights up the landing of our home. Jo enthusiastically embraced the brief and talked us through the process, then produced detailed drawings so we had a clear vision of what the finished piece would look like. She also invited us to her studio to see the work-in-progress, and explained the materials and techniques that she would be using; this was fascinating and gave us a real feeling of involvement in the process as well as a deeper appreciation of the skill and artistry involved. The window exceeded our expectations and it will bring pleasure to us, our family and friends for decades to come. "

"Joanne Eisenberg's curiosity, sensitivity, and personal warmth make her interested in and open to those with whom she interacts artistically. Her thoughtful and enthusiastic style of communication invites others to share their views and feel like peers and collaborators who are full participants in the creative process."

All commissions are unique to the client. As you can see from the small collection shown here , there is huge variation.
The windows here are developed from an idea or theme, often this can be just a word, for example "Creation".
I then produce a sketch or painting trying to translate these ideas into a piece of art. Its only at this point I can begin to make a window.

Fused glass
Fusing is the technique of joining two or more pieces of glass by heat in a kiln. There are different ways of doing this depending on the desired outcome. “tack fusing” is a technique in which the pieces of glass are heated until they are just hot enough to stick together and retain many of their own original characteristics.A full fuse is when the glass is heated until it is molten and has a smooth, shiny surface. There are some examples depicted below.
Heaven and Earth
Whilst on the allotment considering climate change and how dry the soil had become, this artwork developed. It began as a mixed media doodle in which I started to see a man trying to hold up the sky for his lover, whilst she is desperately trying to collect water under a fierce sun, the fish and the bird are also in need of water.
I decided to try and capture this with a fused glass work. The results are below.
These 4 pieces were all an exploration into the notion of home and asking questions as to what does home mean in our time when so many people don't have one or have had to leave home behind
Moving into the third dimension
With the help of Arts council emergency response funding , I was able to take some small steps experimenting with Pates de verre and glass casting
Examples of preliminary drawings, paintings that became Stained glass windows
I include this as many people aren't aware that before a window can be created I must produce a painting. I then adapt this into a working design for a stained glass window .

Inspiration
And lastly, things that inspire me, a collection of images including my great grandfather, Abraham Eisenberg, the allotment and pictures I have taken whilst out and about.
